I wrote this song on September 20|23, following the orders of the universe.
Sitting in my kitchen - around 9am - watching Jim Rohn's final interview on YouTube, I heard a voice challenge me to pick up a pen and write something that could potentially inspire someone else in the way you [me] hope to be inspired by the voices+words from the icons of the self-improvement world.
The voice told me to be powerful and simple. To not overthink. Ditch the pop culture references. Speak from the heart. DO NOT OVERTHINK! Be authentic. Write the song you NEED to hear.
90 minutes later, at 10:30am, BOOTS was complete.
I fired up my mic in my basement writing room, and recorded BOOTS at 3pm. By 4pm, an iPhone video of my recording was on Instagram.
The response was unlike any I'd ever received. Comments and DMs came at me like Nerf bullets. Friends I haven't been in contact with for years messaged me about the song. A listener Tweeted me saying the song helped him quit his job to pursue a new journey.
I knew I had something special.

BOOTS will not be a conventional song release. I want BOOTS to be a journey. A painting I keep working on. A time-lapse for you all to experience.
This first version is the planted seed. The seed needs water and sunlight and love from the earth, so it can grow into something colourful and beautiful that will be a part of our lives forever.

I hope you love it as much as I do.
I hope it does for you what it has done for me, and many others.

Absolutely love this record, and so happy Buck is back, but is it just me or does Buck’s voice sound totally different from his mid-2000s Talkin’ Honky era stuff?
